Query: New York Labor Law Section 220 requires that municipal governments pay wages to those with whom it contracts at the "prevailing rates." When attorneys are contracted under Article 18-b of the County Law to represent indigent defendants, shouldn't they, too, receive the prevailing rates at which retained criminal defense counsel are compensated?

I like the light-hearted treatment of one of the most hideous aspects of society, The Law. My own experience with the law was a trying time when they booked me on charges of DUI. It was terrifying even to think about losing my driving privileges. But the humor was returned back to my life by my attorney, Mr. Douglas Lipton. He was so supportive and concerned, he's a great guy to know.
